Germany A400M Fleet Update

On August 3, 2025, the German Air Force received its 50th Airbus A400M Atlas, increasing the active fleet by one and reducing the remaining order backlog. This milestone aircraft is configured as a multi-role tactical tanker, featuring a centerline Hose Drum Unit (HDU) and dual under-wing refueling pods. Powered by four Europrop TP400-D6 turboprop engines, the A400M provides a 37-tonne payload capacity and advanced aerial refueling for various platforms. This delivery significantly enhances Germany’s strategic airlift and tactical refueling capabilities, strengthening NATO interoperability and force projection for high-readiness multi-domain operations.
