Description
Bathinda Airport, also known as Bhisiana Air Force Station, is a dual-use airport serving Bathinda and the Malwa region in Punjab, India. It is located 16 kilometers north-west of the city in Bhisiana. The air force base was constructed in 1975 and its status was upgraded to a strategically important air force station and a wing on February 18, 1980. The Indian Air Force operates the base and provides air traffic control and emergency services for the airport. Commercial flights operate from a civil enclave under the Airports Authority of India. The Indian Army has also deployed aviation units at this location, including the Drishti-10 Starliner UAV. The airport features a 1,200-square-meter terminal for commercial operations and a single runway, 13/31.
