Description
Bihta Air Force Station is an Indian Air Force (IAF) base located in Bihta, Bihar, India. The military airfield is situated 40 kilometers southwest of Patna and covers an area of approximately 900 acres. It is operated by the Indian Air Force. In 2016, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) proposed developing a civil enclave at the airbase to serve as a second airport for Patna, and the Indian Air Force consented to commercial flight operations. The development includes a two-storied terminal building for civilian use with a capacity for up to 2.5 million passengers per annum, and plans for expanding the terminal and adding more aerobridges and parking bays. The Bihar government has acquired land for the civil enclave, with construction of the passenger terminal building scheduled to commence in June 2025 and expected completion by April 2027. The project also includes an elevated approach road and the installation of an advanced category-II Instrument Landing System (ILS).
