Description

Hanzhong Chenggu Airport, also known as Chenggu Air Base, is a dual-use military and civil airport serving the city of Hanzhong in Shaanxi province, China. It is located in Chenggu County northeast of Hanzhong. The airport's construction began in the autumn of 1944 as a small civil airport and was expanded into a military airport in the spring of 1945 under the Aviation Commission of the Republic of China. In 1950, it was converted into Xinhan Labor Farm. In 1966, the Jinsong Machinery Factory (No. 182 Factory) under the Ministry of Aerospace Industry was built at the site, establishing a test flight area for domestic transport aircraft final assembly, and the original Wuqusi Airport was rebuilt. In 1967, a unit of the People's Liberation Army Air Force was stationed near the airport. The airport reconstruction project was completed in 1971, named 'Liulin Airport', and was managed and used by a department of the PLA Air Force. Transformation into a dual-use airport with civilian facilities commenced in late December 2011, and it opened for commercial flights on August 13, 2014, replacing the former Hanzhong Xiguan Airport.
