Description
Chu Lai Airport is located in Núi Thành, Da Nang, Vietnam, and serves Tam Kỳ and Quảng Ngãi. The United States Marines established the facility as Chu Lai Air Base on 1 June 1965. Following the fall of Saigon, the airfield was nearly abandoned and used only for irregular military flights. Construction of a terminal began in March 2004, and the airport opened for commercial operations on 22 March 2005.
Middle Airports Corporation operates the facility. Current operations include domestic commercial services to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Airlines operating at the site include Pacific Airlines, VietJet Air, and Vietnam Airlines.
The airport occupies 30 square kilometers of land. Infrastructure includes a passenger terminal and aircraft parking areas.
