Description
The Détachement Air 190 is a French Air Force air base located in Tahiti, French Polynesia. It was established in 1961 as Base Aérienne 190 Tahiti-Faa'a, also known as "Sergent Julien Allain". The base's construction began in 1959 to support the logistics of the Pacific Nuclear Experimentation Center (CEP), with official inauguration in 1961. The Base Aérienne 190 was officially dissolved on July 18, 2012, but its infrastructures were subsequently taken over by the Détachement Air 190, which continues its operations. The base is managed by the French Air Force. Units stationed there include the Flottille 25F (since September 2000) and the Escadron de transport 82 Maine (since May 1964). The base features one asphalt runway, designated 04/22.
