Description
Gurugram Air Force Station is a military airbase of the Indian Air Force's Western Air Command, located in Gurugram city, Haryana, India. It serves as a logistics base and was established in 1947 following India's independence. The base is a key component within the National Capital Region for the Western Air Command, which has been involved in major conflicts including the Indo-Pakistani War of 1947, Sino-Indian War in 1962, Indo-Pakistani War of 1965, Indo-Pakistan War of 1971, Operation Pawan, Operation Safed Sagar during the 1999 Kargil War, and ongoing air logistics operations to supply troops at Siachen Glacier. The station hosts the Indian Navy's Information Fusion Centre (IFC), which collaborates with the Information Fusion Centre - Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR) for maritime domain awareness by sharing non-sensitive information with partner nations. The IFC is based at the Indian Navy's Information Management and Analysis Centre (IMAC) in Gurugram, which was opened in November 2014 as a joint collaboration of the Indian Navy, Indian Coast Guard, and Bharat Electronics Limited to enhance coastal surveillance and security. IMAC links coastal radar chains to provide real-time monitoring of India's coastline. The base also includes an ammunition dump, which has a restricted construction zone around it.
