Description
Hasimara Air Force Station is an Indian Air Force (IAF) base located in Alipurduar district, West Bengal, India. The base is strategically positioned near the Indo-Bhutan border and is the closest Indian air base to the Chumbi Valley. It was established after the Sino-Indian War of 1962 and activated on April 7, 1963. The airbase participated in the Indo-Pak conflicts of 1965 and 1971. Historically, it was home to No. 22 Squadron IAF. In July 2021, No. 101 Squadron IAF, equipped with Dassault Rafale fighter jets, was inducted at Hasimara. The station is operated by the Eastern Air Command of the Indian Air Force.
