Description
Kalamata Air Base is located between Kalamata and Messini on the Pamisos River plain in the Peloponnese region of Greece. The site opened in 1959, and in 1976, the Hellenic Air Force established an air-training center at the location.
The facility is operated by the Hellenic Air Force and hosts the 120th Air Training Wing. It houses the Instrument Flight Training Center and, since 2021, the International Flight Training Center. The latter is operated through a partnership between the Hellenic Air Force and Elbit Systems. The primary mission of the base is military flight training.
Military infrastructure is situated to the west of the runway. The base shares its airfield and runway with the civilian Kalamata International Airport. Ground access is provided via the GR-82 highway.
