Description

Kish International Airport is located on Kish Island in the Hormozgan province of Iran. Owned by the Kish Free Zone Organization and operated by the Iran Airports Company, the facility was established prior to 1979. Its initial design included infrastructure required to support Concorde aircraft for operations to London and Paris. Following the establishment of the Kish Free Zone Organization in the 1980s, the facility underwent expansion, including the 1998 construction of Terminal 5, a 5,500 square meter installation.

The airport facilitates operations for various carriers, with Kish Air maintaining a base of operations at the site. Other operators include Iran Air, Mahan Air, Qeshm Air, and flydubai. Aeronautical operations are managed by the Air Traffic Service and Aviation Electronics departments. The facility is the designated site for the biennial Iran Kish Air Show.

Infrastructure consists of multiple terminals and facilities capable of supporting heavy transport aircraft. The airport handles domestic transit to mainland centers including Tehran, Mashhad, and Isfahan, alongside international services to regional destinations such as Dubai and Baghdad. Under a specific regulatory scheme for the Kish Free Zone, the airport functions as a point of entry providing 14-day visa-free access for foreign citizens arriving from international locations.
