Description

Vadodara Airport is a dual-use facility operating as a customs airport and an Indian Air Force base, serving the city of Vadodara in Gujarat, India. It is situated in the suburb of Harni, northeast of Vadodara. The Indian Air Force maintains a state-of-the-art MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) facility at the base for HS 748 and AN-32 aircraft. The base hosts two transport squadrons under No. 36 Wing IAF, South Western Air Command: No. 11 Squadron IAF, known as Charging Rhinos, which operates C-295 aircraft (with HS 748 transport aircraft being phased out), and No. 25 Squadron IAF, known as Himalayan Eagles, equipped with AN-32 aircraft. No. 25 Squadron IAF relocated to Vadodara from Chandigarh in September 2011. Additionally, Tata Advanced Systems has facilities at the airport where the final assembly of the Airbus C295 aircraft is carried out. The foundation stone for this Final Assembly Line (FAL) complex was laid in October 2022, and the complex was inaugurated in October 2024. The first 'Make in India' C295 aircraft is projected to roll out of the Vadodara FAL in September 2026. The airport features a new Integrated Terminal Building, inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India in October 2016, and also has a night parking facility capable of accommodating approximately nine Airbus A320 or Boeing 737 aircraft.
