Description
Ngari Gunsa Airport, also known as Ngari Günsa Airport or Shiquanhe Airport, is a dual-use military and civil airport located in Ngari Prefecture, Tibet Autonomous Region, serving the town of Shiquanhe. Construction of the airport began in May 2007, and it commenced operations on July 1, 2010. It was the fourth civil airport to open in Tibet. The airport is situated at an elevation of 4,274 meters above sea level. It features a 4,500-meter asphalt runway. Following the 2017 Doklam standoff, military presence at Ngari Gunsa Airport has been expanded, with Shenyang J-16s and J-11s fighter jets stationed there. The airport is located approximately 200 kilometers from Pangong Tso, Ladakh.
