Description
PAF Base Risalewala is situated on Jhang Road, 10 kilometers southwest of Faisalabad in the Punjab province. The facility traces its origins to 1942, when the local government under the British Raj authorized the construction of a bricked airstrip. Originally designated as Lyallpur Airfield, the site was renamed in 1979 following the renaming of the city to Faisalabad.
The installation serves as a standby Pakistan Air Force base and is operated by the Pakistan Airports Authority. The facility’s control tower provides aerodrome and approach control services for both civilian and military aircraft. Security operations are governed by a plan re-evaluated by the Pakistan Air Force, the Airports Security Force, and civil police.
Infrastructure at the base includes dedicated Pakistan Air Force hangars used for line and base maintenance. The airfield features a primary runway and a parallel runway, the latter of which is utilized by military aircraft for taxiing to the main strip. Navigation and operational support are provided by a meteorology forecasting station, an Instrument Landing System, and aircraft ground maintenance services. The base hosts a variety of aircraft, including military assets and trainers from on-site flying schools.
