Description
RAAF Gingin is a Royal Australian Air Force airfield located in Gingin, Western Australia, 55 kilometres north of Perth. Established in the 1960s, the facility occupies 700 hectares and is situated 34 kilometres north of RAAF Base Pearce, which provides administrative oversight for the site.
The airfield is an unmanned installation owned by the Department of Defence and operated by the Royal Australian Air Force. No RAAF personnel are permanently stationed at the facility. Its primary role is the support of pilot training operations. The airfield is also utilized by the Pearce Aero Club, which houses aircraft at the site.
Infrastructure includes an air traffic control tower and facilities for the bulk storage and distribution of fuel. These fuel assets include both above-ground and underground storage tanks.
