Description
Air Force Station Salua is an Indian Air Force Station located in Kharagpur, Paschim Medinipur district, West Bengal, India. It is situated on State Highway 5, 7 km from IIT Kharagpur. Historically, it served as a World War II air base, utilized by the 317th Airlift Squadron of the US Air Force and functioning as the initial base of operations for B-29 Superfortresses, specifically units of the 58th Bomb Wing. The airstrip ceased active use after World War II. Currently, the station is used as a radar station by the Indian Air Force. The nearest airstrip is Air Force Station Kalaikunda.
