Description
Sirsa Air Force Station is an Indian Air Force base located in Sirsa, Haryana, India, operating under the Western Air Command. The base was established in 1964. During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, the Pakistan Air Force launched a pre-emptive raid on Sirsa station, which caused only pothole damage to the runway, quickly repaired. Dassault Mystère IV jets from Sirsa base supported the Indian Army in the Battle of Sabuna Drain and destroyed 50 tanks on a train between Okara and Sahiwal. In the 2025 India-Pakistan conflict, the Pakistan Armed Forces claimed to have targeted Sirsa airfield, but Indian officials stated that a Fatah-II missile was intercepted by an S-400 missile system near the airfield, causing no damage to the base. The base is home to No. 21 Squadron IAF and No. 15 Squadron IAF, which operates Su-30MKI aircraft. Historically, the base housed squadrons of MiG-23s and MiG-27s.
