Description

Sondok Airport is located in Sŏndŏng-ni, Chŏngp'yŏng-gun, Hamgyong-namdo, North Korea, and serves the city of Hamhung. During the Korean War, the United States Air Force designated the installation as K-26. In July 1953, the airfield was the target of a strike by Task Force 77. Air Koryo operated services between the facility and Yangyang Airport in South Korea during 2002.

The airport operates as a dual military and public facility. Air Koryo provides air service between the airfield and Pyongyang. The base hosts a bomber regiment of Ilyushin Il-28 jets and maintains multiple units of Antonov An-2 aircraft. Infrastructure includes a concrete runway, a full-length parallel taxiway, and a large apron located on the north side of the airfield.
