Description
Uttarlai Air Force Station is an Indian Air Force (IAF) base located in Uttarlai, Barmer, Rajasthan, India. During the 1971 India-Pakistan War, this airfield was developed into a forward air base, suitable for strike purposes. It facilitated the operation of HF-24 Maruts, Gnats, Hunters, and MiGs. The base is operated by the Indian Air Force. It has one concrete runway, 02/20, measuring 2,744 meters. There are plans by the Government of Rajasthan to make a civil enclave operational at this location to serve the local population and workers involved in a petro refinery project. Until the civil airport becomes functional, flights will operate from the existing Air Force field.
