The white triangle signifies peace, and the Zimbabwe Bird is a national emblem, representing the country's history and cultural heritage.
History
The flag of Zimbabwe was officially adopted on April 18, 1980, the country's Independence Day. It replaced the flag of Rhodesia, which had undergone several changes during the UDI (Unilateral Declaration of Independence) era. The design was finalized following Zimbabwe's transition to majority rule after the Lancaster House Agreement. No significant changes have been made to the flag since its adoption.
