Description
Captured by Russian forces at Berdyansk on 26 February 2022 alongside other Ukrainian vessels when the port fell. Henichesk was a Project 1258 (Yevgenya-class) inshore minesweeper, a small 90-tonne fibreglass-hulled vessel designed for sweeping mines in shallow coastal waters. Ukrainian officials reported her loss in August 2022 alongside the Island-class patrol boat Sloviansk. The Yevgenya class was built in large numbers for the Soviet Navy from 1967 onwards, with Henichesk being one of the last examples still in nominal service.
