Description
Scuttled on 4 March 2022 at Mykolaiv shipyard on orders from the Ukrainian Navy command. Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov confirmed the decision, stating the commander followed orders to flood the frigate to prevent it from falling into enemy hands. The Krivak III-class frigate had been the flagship of the Ukrainian Navy since 1993 and was undergoing scheduled maintenance at the time. Originally commissioned in 1993, Hetman Sahaidachny displaced 3,100 tonnes and was armed with a 100 mm gun, torpedoes and anti-submarine rockets.
