Description
Project 22870 rescue tug sunk on 17 June 2022 by two Harpoon anti-ship missiles, reportedly from a Danish-supplied coastal defense battery, while transporting troops, weapons, ammunition, and a Tor air defense system to Snake Island. The UK Ministry of Defence confirmed the sinking. Vasily Bekh was a 1,200-tonne salvage vessel commissioned in 2017 and assigned to the Black Sea Fleet. Her loss, combined with earlier strikes on Raptor and Serna craft, effectively ended Russian resupply attempts to Snake Island by sea.
