Description
Catamaran submarine rescue ship struck on 21 April 2024 by a Ukrainian R-360 Neptune anti-ship missile at Sevastopol. The Ukrainian Navy confirmed the hit, though satellite imagery showed no clearly visible damage, and her operational status remains disputed. Launched in 1913 and originally named Volkhov, Kommuna is the world's oldest active naval vessel, having served in both World Wars and the Soviet era. The 3,100-tonne twin-hulled vessel is used for submarine rescue and salvage operations and had been involved in recovery efforts for other damaged Black Sea Fleet ships.
