Description
Sunk on 28 August 2025 by a Russian high-speed unmanned surface vessel (USV) while operating in the Danube Delta west of Vylkove, Odesa Oblast, just meters from Romanian territorial waters. The attack killed at least two crew members and wounded several others. Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk confirmed the strike, which marked Russia's first successful use of a naval drone against a Ukrainian vessel. Built at Kuznia na Rybalskomu shipyard in Kyiv on an unfinished Project 502EM trawler hull, the 1,220-tonne Laguna-class SIGINT ship entered service in 2021 and was equipped with the Melchior electronic intelligence station capable of detecting radar activity up to 450 km away.
