Description
Former Royal Netherlands Navy minehunter HNLMS Makkum (M857), transferred to the Ukrainian Navy and renamed Henichesk in October 2025. Third Tripartite-class (Alkmaar-class) minehunter delivered to Ukraine following the June 2025 transfer of Mariupol and Melitopol from Belgium and the Netherlands respectively. Decommissioned from the Dutch fleet in late 2024 after nearly 40 years of service during which it neutralized over 120 explosive devices in the North Sea. Named after the occupied Ukrainian city of Henichesk, the vessel strengthens Ukraine's mine countermeasures fleet.
