Description
Formally received by the Hellenic Navy during a ceremony in the Saronic Gulf on 15 January 2026, attended by Prime Minister Mitsotakis and President Tasoulas. HS Kimon is the lead ship of the Kimon class (FDI HN), a 4,500-tonne multi-role frigate designed and built by Naval Group in France. Delivered on 18 December 2025 at Lorient, she made the delivery voyage to Greece in January. Armed with Exocet MM40 B3C anti-ship missiles, Aster air-defense missiles, and MU90 torpedoes, Kimon is the first new frigate inducted into the Greek fleet since 1998.
