Description
Russian-built Kilo-class diesel-electric submarine, assessed sunk at its berth in Bandar Abbas Naval Base during Operation Epic Fury. Satellite imagery from March 2-3, 2026, showed a large scorch mark next to the submarine's pier-side position, with the vessel no longer visible at its mooring. IRINS Taregh was the most operational of Iran's three Kilo-class boats, with sister ships Nooh (S902) in deep refit and Yunes (S903) of uncertain whereabouts. Delivered by Russia in 1992, the 3,000-tonne submarine was armed with torpedoes and could deploy naval mines.
