Description
Commissioned on 6 March 2026 at Kure Naval Base and assigned to the 1st Ocean Surveillance Division. JS Bingo is the fourth Hibiki-class auxiliary ocean surveillance ship, following JS Aki (AOS-5203) commissioned in 2021. Built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Maritime Systems at a cost of approximately ¥19.6 billion, Bingo displaces 2,900 tonnes and features a Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) catamaran design optimized for stable, low-noise acoustic surveillance operations in the Indo-Pacific.
