China Renhai Fleet Update

Revealed in active service on 8 March 2026 by CCTV footage showing joint training at sea, confirming commissioning alongside sister ship Anqing. Dongguan is the ninth Type 055 (Renhai-class) guided-missile destroyer and the first of the class assigned to the PLA Eastern Theater Command, significantly strengthening naval combat capability in the East China Sea and Taiwan Strait approaches. At over 12,000 tonnes, the Type 055 carries 112 vertical launch system cells and is designed to lead surface action groups and escort carriers.
