Description
Assessed sunk by U.S. airstrikes at Bandar Abbas Naval Base on 1 March 2026, based on satellite imagery analysis showing the vessel missing from its berth. IRIS Zagros was Iran's first dedicated signals intelligence (SIGINT) vessel, delivered in January 2025 and built on a modified Moudge-class hull. Displacing approximately 1,500 tonnes, Zagros was equipped with prominent radomes and sensor arrays for electronic surveillance and communications interception. Its loss alongside sister ships Sahand and Sabalan eliminated Iran's only purpose-built SIGINT platform.
