Description
On April 2, 2025, an Indian Air Force (IAF) Jaguar fighter aircraft crashed during a night training mission near Jamnagar, Gujarat, resulting in the loss of one airframe. The twin-seater variant suffered a technical malfunction, leading to the death of one pilot and severe injuries to another. This event marks the second Jaguar loss in less than a month. Despite DARIN III upgrades, the aging Jaguar fleet faces significant maintenance challenges and airframe fatigue. The IAF intends to retire the platform between 2028 and 2031, transitioning to the indigenous HAL Tejas Mk1A to modernize its deep-strike capabilities.
