Description
A Ukrainian Air Force Mi-8 multirole helicopter was destroyed on the ground by a Russian Geran-2 kamikaze drone at a helipad near the village of Mykhailivka in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast on 6 March 2026. Russian reconnaissance drones first spotted the helicopter parked on an uncamouflaged helipad without anti-aircraft cover. A Geran-2 strike drone was dispatched overnight, and the Russian Ministry of Defense released footage confirming the precision strike through objective control video captured by a reconnaissance UAV. The loss underscored the growing threat posed by loitering munitions to forward-deployed rotary-wing assets, particularly when parked without adequate camouflage or air defense protection.
