Description
Alcantarilla Air Base (ICAO: LERI), formerly designated as Aeródromo Militar de Alcantarilla, is a Spanish Air and Space Force facility situated in Sangonera la Seca, Murcia. The base hosts the "Méndez Parada" Military Parachute School (EMP) and the Paratrooper Sappers Squadron (EZAPAC). The EZAPAC is a special operations unit tasked with air combat and combat support missions. The facility also houses the Air and Space Force Aerobatic Parachute Patrol (PAPEA).
Aviation assets at the base include CASA C-212 Aviocar aircraft operated by 721 Squadron. This unit conducts training and short-range transport missions in support of the EMP, EZAPAC, and PAPEA. Additionally, 721 Squadron provides aerial support for instruction and exercises conducted by the Spanish Army, the Spanish Navy, and the Civil Guard.
