Description
Bidar Airport operates as a civil enclave on the Indian Air Force's Bidar Air Force Station, serving the city of Bidar, Karnataka, India. It is one of India's oldest military air bases and functions as a training school for Air Force pilots. The Indian Air Force operates the Air Force Academy, which utilizes Kiran Mk II trainers, and the Hawk Operational Training Squadron (HOTS), which operates BAE Hawk Advanced jet trainers. The base is also home to the Surya Kiran Aerobatics Team (SKAT). A civilian terminal was constructed in 2008-2009 to facilitate commercial flight operations, allowing for dual military and public use.
