Description
Boa Vista Air Force Base is located in the capital of Roraima state, Brazil, 4 km from downtown Boa Vista. Construction of the facility began in 1973, and the base was commissioned on 25 August 1984. It is the only Brazilian Air Force installation situated in the Northern Hemisphere.
The facility is operated by the Brazilian Air Force and shares infrastructure with Atlas Brasil Cantanhede International Airport. Designated by the code ALA7, the base hosts the 1st Squadron of the 3rd Aviation Group (1°/3°GAv), known as the Escorpião Squadron. This unit operates Embraer A-29A and B Super Tucano aircraft. The base has previously hosted other aircraft types, including the Embraer C-95B Bandeirante, Cessna C-98A Caravan, and Embraer T-27 Tucano.
