Description

Captain Germán Olano Moreno Air Base is located in Palanquero, near Puerto Salgar, in the Cundinamarca department of Colombia. The site originally served as an airport for the airline Scadta beginning in 1919. Following the 1932 conflict with Peru, the facility was transitioned for military use and was officially inaugurated on August 27, 1933, by President Enrique Olaya Herrera. It is named in honor of Captain Germán Olano Moreno.

The Colombian Aerospace Force operates the installation as the headquarters for Combat Air Command No. 1 (CACOM 1). Stationed units include 111 Squadron. The base hosts multiple aircraft types, including IAI Kfir C10 combat aircraft and Basler BT-67 aircraft. The facility has also served as an operational base for Dassault Mirage 5 fighters.
