Description
Del Norte International Airport is located in Apodaca, Nuevo León, Mexico, serving as a secondary facility for Greater Monterrey. American Airlines established the airport in the 1940s. It functioned as the primary regional terminal until 1970, when commercial services transitioned to Monterrey International Airport.
Complejo Aeronáutico del Norte operates the facility. Current activities include general aviation, executive flights, flight training, research, and military operations. The airport does not facilitate scheduled public passenger service. Air Force Base No. 14 (B.A.M. 14) is situated on the premises and serves as the headquarters for Air Squadron 108 and Air Squadron 102.
Infrastructure includes 123 hangars, a control tower, a terminal for charter flights, and multiple aprons. The Research Center for Innovation in Aeronautical Engineering, an entity of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León, maintains research laboratories at the facility. Military infrastructure at B.A.M. 14 consists of a 22,350 square meter apron, a hangar, and accommodation for personnel. Air Squadron 108 operates Cessna 182 and Cessna 206 aircraft. Air Squadron 102 operates Bell 206 and Bell 212 helicopters.
