Description
El Palomar Air Base is located 18 km west of Buenos Aires, Argentina, situated near the El Palomar station of the San Martín railway line and 2 km from the Acceso Oeste Highway. Established in 1912, the site originally housed the Army Aviation School, which served as the foundation for the Argentine Air Force.
The base is the headquarters for the 1st Air Brigade (Primera Brigada Aérea) of the Argentine Air Force. The unit's primary mission is transport. While the facility hosted commercial operations for low-cost carriers between 2018 and 2020, these services ceased in 2020. As of 2022, commercial flight facilities at the base were being dismantled and relocated to Ezeiza International Airport. No scheduled commercial flights currently operate at the installation.
