Description
Hohn Air Base is a German Air Force installation located in Hohn, Germany. Starting in May 1968, the base served as the home of Air Transport Wing 63 (Lufttransportgeschwader 63), which operated Transall C-160 transport aircraft from the site.
While the German Air Force disbanded Air Transport Wing 63 in 2013 and initially planned to close the facility, a 2019 announcement confirmed the airfield would remain open. The base now functions as a diversion facility for military air bases located in Northern Germany.
In June 2023, the base participated in Exercise Air Defender 23. Held from June 12 to June 23 under the leadership of the German Air Force, this event was the largest air force exercise since the establishment of NATO.
