Description

King Faisal Air Academy (KFAA) is an officer training establishment and flight school for the Royal Saudi Air Force located at Riyadh Air Base. Founded on 11 January 1968 by Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz, the facility officially opened on 20 May 1970. It provides initial officer training and flight instruction, awarding graduates commissions as both pilots and officers.

Current leadership includes Commander Hazem bin Abdul Rahman bin Ghoshyan and Ceremonial Chief Lt Gen Prince Turki bin Bandar. The training curriculum spans 27 months, leading to bachelor's degrees in aeronautical sciences for aircrew or engineering degrees for technical specialists. Instruction is conducted in English to align with the academy’s use of equipment from the United Kingdom and the United States. The faculty includes British personnel.

Operational training programs at KFAA include courses for fighter pilots, weapon directors, air traffic controllers, and information technology personnel. The institution also facilitates an internal and external scholarship system for studies in aviation engineering, accounting, and law. Following graduation, some personnel undergo further instruction at Columbus Air Force Base in the United States.
