Description
Kyzyl International Airport serves Kyzyl, Tuva, Russia, located 6 km southwest of the city center. It functions as a public airport but also hosts military operations. The base is home to the 32nd Independent Composite Transport Aviation Regiment, Composite Aviation Squadron, which is part of the 14th Air and Air Defence Forces Army. The airport underwent a significant renovation, with runway reconstruction officially completed on 13 February 2018. Following these upgrades, Kyzyl Airport received permission to operate international flights on 5 September 2019, with plans to commence flights to China and Mongolia. The airport aims to accommodate larger aircraft for direct flights to Moscow and Saint Petersburg, as well as for technical stops for flights between Asian countries and western Russia or Europe.
