Description
Nalchik Airport is a dual-use airport located 3 km northeast of Nalchik, Russia. It is capable of handling small airliners, with a terminal area accommodating 12 jets and 6 small aircraft, supporting 24-hour operations. Historically, the airport maintained a minor military presence, hosting the 368th Independent Mixed Aviation Regiment (368 OSAZ) which operated Antonov An-12 cargo aircraft. Currently, the airport serves as the base for the Nalchik Mountain range Test Centre of the 929th State Flight Test Centre named for V. P. Chkalov, operating as part of the Russian Aerospace Forces. In 1994, Pulkovo Aviation Enterprise Flight 9045 crashed on approach to the airport.
