Description

Nouasseur Air Base is located near Casablanca, Morocco. Established in 1951 by the United States Air Force, the installation originated from the Allied presence in the former French protectorate following World War II. During the early 1950s, the Strategic Air Command (SAC) utilized the base for Operation Reflex, rotating B-36 and B-47 wings to North Africa as a staging area. The 80th Air Depot Wing transferred to the site in March 1951, followed by the 118th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron in December 1951. Following a 1959 agreement to depart, the United States closed the facility in December 1963.

The site now operates as Mohammed V International Airport and hosts helicopters of the Royal Moroccan Navy. The infrastructure was designed to support B-36 and B-47 bombers, though the base also functioned as a location for aircraft repair units. The facility featured an asphalt-concrete runway capable of hosting SAC aircraft.
