Description
PAF Base Multan is a joint-use public and military facility located four kilometers west of Multan in Punjab. The site originated as an airfield for the Royal Air Force in 1919. Imperial Airways initiated civil aviation activities at the location in 1934, and regular scheduled services commenced in 1938. Following the independence of Pakistan, the facility supported operations for Pak Air and the Multan Flying Club before Pakistan International Airlines began service in 1957.
The facility is operated by the Pakistan Airports Authority. It functions as a center for domestic and international flight operations. Infrastructure includes a terminal inaugurated in 2015, four boarding jet bridges, and an air traffic control tower equipped with navigation systems. A cargo complex is established on-site with an annual capacity of 10,000 metric tonnes for the handling of freight.
The base infrastructure supports wide-body and narrow-body airframes, including the Boeing 747-400, Boeing 777-300ER, and Airbus A340-600. Operational facilities include nose-in parking for six aircraft, a fuel farm operated by Pakistan State Oil, and ICAO Category-9 fire and rescue services. A parallel taxiway system facilitates aircraft exit and departure. The installation hosts multiple commercial carriers, including Pakistan International Airlines, Airblue, and Fly Jinnah.
