Description

PAF Base Murid is an operational flying base of the Pakistan Air Force located in the Chakwal District of Punjab. Established in 1942 by the British Raj as a Royal Indian Air Force station, the facility was designated as No. 784 Readiness Flight following Pakistani independence in 1947. Initially utilized as a forward operating base, the installation was restructured in 2013 and upgraded to a main operating base in December 2014.

Controlled by Northern Air Command, the base serves as the central location for the Pakistan Air Force UAV and UCAV fleet. The 42 Flying Wing is stationed at the facility and manages several specialized units. No. 60 Strategic Squadron operates Shahpar-1 UAVs, and No. 61 Strategic Squadron is equipped with Shahpar-I platforms. No. 64 CUAS Squadron operates Bayraktar TB2 UCAVs, while No. 65 MR UAS Squadron operates Baykar Bayraktar Akıncı High-Altitude Long-Endurance (HALE) UCAVs. The base also hosts Leonardo Falco and GIDS Shahpar systems.

Infrastructure includes Airfield Lighting Systems (AFLS) and Precision Approach Radar (PAR). The facility maintains hangars specifically constructed for combat drones and a fortified sub-complex containing command-and-control functions and underground assets. During the 2025 India–Pakistan conflict and Operation Bunyanun Marsoos, the base was involved in operations and was targeted by missile strikes.
