Description
Rovaniemi Air Base is located 10 kilometers north of Rovaniemi, Finland. Established in 1940, the installation served as an airbase and supply center for the German Luftwaffe during the Continuation War.
The facility is a joint-use military and civil airport operated by Finavia. It hosts the Lapland Air Command (Lapin lennosto), which operates F-18 fighter interceptors. The air unit of the Frontier Guard of Lapland (Rovaniemen vartiolentue) is located nearby. Infrastructure at the installation includes jet bridges and facilities supporting both military and civil flight operations.
