Description
San Isidro Air Base (Base Aérea de San Isidro) is located 25 kilometers east of Santo Domingo. The installation became operational on March 23, 1953. Originally designated as Base Aérea Trujillo, the facility was renamed San Isidro in 1961.
The base is operated by the Dominican Air Force and serves as the station for the majority of the service's units, aircraft, and helicopters. Operational infrastructure includes the on-field San Isidro VOR/DME (Ident: SIS) and the Punta Caucedo VOR/DME (Ident: CDO) located 6.8 nautical miles west of the installation.
