Description
Santa Bernardina International Airport is located 3 kilometers northeast of downtown Durazno, across the Yí River. The facility supports both general aviation and military operations, housing the Tte. 2° Mario W. Parallada Air Base of the Uruguayan Air Force.
The base hosts Air Brigade No. 2, which comprises three active squadrons. No. 2 Squadron conducts fighter and ground attack missions using Cessna A-37 Dragonfly aircraft. Training operations are conducted by the Advanced Flight Squadron, which operates Pilatus PC-7 aircraft. The Enlace Squadron fulfills utility and liaison roles with Cessna 206 and Cessna 210 aircraft.
The installation includes the Durazno VOR-DME and several non-directional beacons situated around the airfield.
