Description

Seosan Air Base is a Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) installation located near Seosan in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea. The ROKAF owns and operates the facility, which hosts the 20th Fighter Wing.

The 20th Fighter Wing consists of the 120th, 121st, 123rd, and 157th Fighter Squadrons. These units operate KF-16C/D (Block 52) multirole fighter aircraft.

Historical flight incidents involving aircraft from the base include a KF-16C crash on September 18, 1997, caused by engine failure, and a KF-16C-52 crash on February 26, 2002, resulting from an engine fire. In both instances, the pilots successfully ejected. On July 20, 2007, a KF-16D crashed at sea during a night flight originating from Seosan, resulting in the fatalities of both crew members.
