Description
Sombor Air Base is a military airfield located 7 km from the city of Sombor and 9 km from the town of Apatin in the Vojvodina region of northern Serbia. The airport was originally built by German forces in 1944 during the Axis occupation of the Bačka region, with a 1,200-meter concrete runway.
The base was damaged during the 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. There has been interest from foreign investors in converting it for civilian use, though it remains under the authority of the Ministry of Defence of Serbia.
